The Wellman City Council met in special session for the purpose of interviewing applicants for the city maintenance positions. Mayor Ryan Miller presided with the City Administrator, City Clerk and following Council members: Robert Goodrich, Karri Fisher, Marc Pennington, and Steve Slaubaugh; absent: Matt Latcham. Also present was one citizen.
The Agenda was approved upon motion by Goodrich, second by Slaubaugh and all aye votes.
The Council discussed the interview process and the results of the previous work session held on January 31. The session remained open during the interview process.
Four candidates were present and interviewed individually. At the end of the interviews, the council members concurred to offer the positions to interviewees number 3 and number 4 with a starting wage of $14.00 per hour. Another applicant, not present for an interview, has indicated a desire for part time work at twenty hours a week. He has both water and wastewater certifications and will be retiring soon from his current position. The Council asked that Ross contact him, interview and offer him the position of plant operator and assist with snow removal and other maintenance issues. Goodrich moved to offer the two full-time maintenance positions to the two candidates and authorize Ross to contact the third applicant for a part time position and hire same if an agreement is reached. Pennington seconded the motion and all voted aye.
In a brief discussion on the policy for the hiring process it was agreed that the Council will participate in the interviews. Ross will rewrite the policy to reflect this.

to move forward with two capital projects. The
In General Administrative discussion Ross asked if he could work on implementation of a snow emergency policy. The Council asked him to proceed.
