The City of Wellman is excited to announce it's Downtown Business Incentive Program.

The program is designed to help attract customers and investors to the business district as we

create a positive, professional image for our community.

Three grant opportunities are available for downtown businesses:

* The Facade Grant Program provides financial assistance to business and property owners for the restoration or rehabilitation of storefronts and facades on downtown commercial buildings. There is a 50% match requirement by the business/property owner and the maximum grant award per property is $2,500.

* The Commercial Interior Grant Program helps retail business owners or renters expand or remodel interior commercial space in the downtown district. The maximum grant award is $2,500 and there is a 50% match requirement.

* The Acquisition Assistance Grant Program is designed to assist business owners who acquire approved downtown property. Anyone who purchases a downtown property that will be used by said owner for their own commercial business qualifies to be reimbursed for up to $2,500 of closing costs (realtor fees, abstracting, and attorney fees).

** Each of the three grants requires prior approval by the City Council before any project can begin or any City funds being disbursed.
