Downtown Business Incentive Program
The City of Wellman is excited to announce it's Downtown Business Incentive Program.
The program is designed to help attract customers and investors to the business district as we create a positive, professional image for our community.
Three grant opportunities are available for downtown businesses:
- * The Facade Grant Program provides financial assistance to business and property owners for the restoration or rehabilitation of storefronts and facades on downtown commercial buildings. There is a 50% match requirement by the business/property owner and the maximum grant award per property is $2,500.
- * The Commercial Interior Grant Program helps retail business owners or renters expand or remodel interior commercial space in the downtown district. The maximum grant award is $2,500 and there is a 50% match requirement.
- * The Acquisition Assistance Grant Program is designed to assist business owners who acquire approved downtown property. Anyone who purchases a downtown property that will be used by said owner for their own commercial business qualifies to be reimbursed for up to $2,500 of closing costs (realtor fees, abstracting, and attorney fees).
