LEAF/BRUSH PICKUP

The City’s volunteers have begun picking up items for the season. Items must be to the curb by 8:00am. Please call City Hall before 8:00am Monday mornings at 646-2154 to let us know you have yard waste to be picked up. You can call after hours and leave a voice message. You must use the paper yard waste bags available at City Hall for 50cents each. Sticks and brush must be bundled (tied with string) in manage-able sizes. This service will continue through fall each Monday morning. A BIG thank you to the volunteers that help us out!!

SEVERE WEATHER REMINDER

Severe weather season is upon us. We wish to remind you that the weather siren will sound if Wellman has been issued a tornado warning.  It sounds differently than the fire sirens. Please note, this siren is used to alert those who are outside, not persons inside homes and businesses. You should depend on television or radio to alert you to weather conditions when inside buildings. This is a good time to check to be sure you have battery operated radios, flash lights, bottled water and other emergency items available if needed.

THOSE LIVING IN HOMES WITHOUT BASEMENTS – may come to City Hall if a tornado warning is issued. The City opens the building when the alert is issued no matter what day or time it is so you can take shelter in the basement.

RAGBRAI VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Friday, July 27th Ragbrai will be riding through Wellman and we are in need of many volunteers.  Anyone interested in volunteering please contact City Hall at 319-646-2154.

Also, anyone interested in being a vendor should attend the Ragbrai Vendor meeting on Thursday, April 19th at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers at Wellman City Hall.  If you have any questions in regards to this event please call City Hall at 319-646-2154.

ANNUAL CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE AND DOWNTOWN FLEA MARKET

As times change it becomes necessary to change the way you plan and organize for community events like our annual garage sale.  Last year the Downtown Flea Market was added.  For 2018 the Wellman Chamber of Commerce is taking on the task of generating and distributing the maps.  To that end we would like to ask that anyone wishing to have a garage sale on 5-5-18, supply that information to the Wellman Telephone Company office by 4-18-2018.  Anyone wanting to be part of the flea market should let Sheri Winter at 2nd Street Salon know by 4-18-2018.

We realize that this is a major shift and will require more pre-planning on the part of those wanting to participate in this annual event.  There will be positives and negatives to this process.  Please know that our goal is to keep this event viable and promote our community.
