Recreational opportunities in and around the City of Wellman are abundant.
From baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, Frisbee
golf, playgrounds, hiking, biking, and picnic areas at North Park; golf at one of the only sand green golf courses in Iowa; golf at one of many area golf courses, including the new Rees Jones designed course at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort; fishing along the English River; and boating, fishing, or camping at Lake Darling, the Coralville Reservoir, or the Belva Deer Recreational area – each lake within approximately thirty minutes of Wellman.
Located between 11th and 13th Streets and Gingko and 6th Avenues, North Park is home to baseball, softball, tennis, sand volleyball, park shelters, the Wellman Bandshell, Frisbee Golf, walking trails, and three different playground areas. In 2010 a brand new trail extension was installed — this connection is part of an overall Master Trail Plan for Washington County and this segment connects North Park (and the New Parkside Activities Center) with the Wellman Elementary
